Suddenly you find that you are not so tired, and begin thinking about the editorials that could be created from all the emotions evoked by the week’s shows.

Paris Spring Summer 2020

A fashion week diary

Chanel Spring Summer 2020

Chanel kept to the tweeds and textiles of the house codes, but this time the scene was set on the rooftops of Paris, with wonderful high waisted denim pieces that I would love to have in my personal collection, top of the wishlist! There were quite a few short hemlines and some great kitten heels and flats, which I love. The most surprising aspect was comedian __ on the runway, “arrested” by Gigi Hadid, an interruption which reminded me of the anti-fur protesters from years back, but lacking a message, as far as I could tell.

Miu Miu Spring Summer 2020

I always like Miu Miu but this show was particularly beautiful and had a post-war era feel from the 40s. The collection felt a bit more grown up. There were dresses in painted canvas print, almost referencing Pollock, and some beautiful skirt separates with just the right amount of structure and volume. A delightful show that was cohesive and inspiring.

Lacoste Spring Summer 2020

I love a masculine fashion influence, and a trend that I was happy to see done so well at Lacoste was menswear inspired suiting. My favorite looks were the neutral and pastel suits, as well as a lovely green skirt suit with a trench coat vibe. The color combinations in the shoes with crocodile texture and zip accents were also divine.

Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2020

SOPHIE sang on-screen in a video from director Woodkid to open the show and serenaded the runway, a very emotional and interesting song with a lot of strength. The story felt different from the futuristic feeling of past few shows, with a vibe that referenced the Belle Epoque and delivered three piece suiting, a wonderful variation in textiles, bold colors, prints, and accents like organic floral brooches and ruffled collars.

We closed with an InStyle team dinner to say goodbye to the Parisian fashion week and then I kicked off my shoes after an inspiring final day. The past few days have been wonderful, from McQueen to Valentino and suddenly you find that you are not so tired, and begin thinking about the stories and editorials that could be produced from all the emotions and feelings evoked by the shows and presentations.

Thank you so much to Peninsula Hotel Paris for taking such good care of me as always!
